Once the surgery is over, you’ll be taken to the recovery room, then to your own room. From then on, you’ll need to wear a compression garment, a special post-liposuction shorts.
After BBL surgery in Tunisia
Most often, you’ll be discharged after 1 to 2 nights in hospital. You’ll be able to stand and walk normally from the next day. However, you’ll need someone with you when you leave. In the first few days, sitting down will be difficult.
Precautions after your BBL
Returning to normal life happens gradually, following your surgeon’s instructions. However, wear the special compression garment for the full prescribed period. It compresses the treated areas and supports your buttocks, helping your recovery!
Also, don’t wear clothing that could weigh down your buttocks. Don’t sleep on your back either. Lie on your front or your side instead. Avoid sitting directly on your buttocks.
Not just because of the discomfort, but because the reinjected fat could be reabsorbed as a result. Your doctor will also prescribe effective painkillers if needed.
For the first few days, we recommend getting a special BBL cushion. If you do need to sit down, do it on a comfortable surface. Avoid chairs or hard surfaces. And make sure your weight rests on your thighs, not your buttocks.
What are the risks of a BBL?
The most serious complication of a BBL is fat embolism, linked to fat being injected into the gluteal muscle. The risk of death is 16 times higher with intramuscular injection than with injection under the skin[1], which is why fat must always be grafted subcutaneously.
Published mortality estimates for BBL range from 1 in 2,500 to 1 in 20,117, all drawn from survey-based studies[1][2]. Professional bodies recommend monitoring the cannula’s position with ultrasound during fat injection[3].
Across 22,151 patients from 38 studies, minor complications occurred in 3.58% of cases, mostly seromas and contour irregularities[4]. These risks come on top of those from the liposuction in Tunisia used to remove the fat.
When can you judge the results of a BBL?
Put simply, the added volume is visible immediately. However, the final result of the lipofilling can only be judged several months after your BBL in Tunisia.
