My rhinoplasty with Dr Ergin ER (Turkey): Testimonial and Photos

Welcome to our site! I’m Kevin, the founder of this site. Like many people, I’ve lived with a physical complex. Read about my personal experience, from my disappointment in France to my life-changing rhinoplasty in Turkey.

Whether it’s for this surgery or any other, here’s what to expect in Istanbul: prices, opinions, surgery, pain, hotels, anecdotes… My personal account before you go ahead.

A complex that had been weighing on me since I was a teenager

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been obsessed with one thing: my nose. Too big, too lumpy, too out of proportion with the rest of my face. It was the kind of nose you couldn’t miss in a play.

At school, they didn’t call me Cyrano, but it wasn’t far off. For many it might have been a mere detail, but for me it was a daily burden. At school, the teasing only amplified this complex, and very quickly I began to isolate myself.

Every social interaction became a source of anxiety. So much so that I began to withdraw from other people, preferring to take refuge in front of my computer where, at least, no one judged me… not even Google. Computers soon became my refuge, but that nose was always there, reminding me every day why I avoided socialising.

At 20, I knew I had to do something. I couldn’t stand the nose any longer. So I decided to consult a plastic surgeon in Nice, in the south of France. What was supposed to be the solution to my anxieties quickly turned into a disappointment.

“It’s the solution”, I said to myself, except that… 3,800 euros later, after scraping the bottom of the barrel (and working like crazy as a freelance computer technician), the result wasn’t really what I expected.

The bump had disappeared, but a new one had formed on the side of my nose, creating an asymmetry. Was it a bone that had been intentionally badly cut to make me pay for a €1,500 touch-up? It was a nightmare all over again.

13 years later, hope in Istanbul

13 years. That’s a long time. And 13 years of looking in the mirror and thinking “What the hell did that surgeon do? Then one day, by chance, I came across a report on television about cosmetic surgery in Turkey. Istanbul, incredibly low prices, and above all surgeons who seem to have the hands of a magician. 2,200 euros for a nose job in Turkey? It was enough to arouse my curiosity. This was my chance to turn over a new leaf.

Without wasting a minute, I embarked on an investigation worthy of Sherlock Holmes: hours spent comparing clinics in Turkey, reading testimonials on discussion forums, finding out the surgeons’ specialities.

In short, I did everything I could to avoid a second mistake. After gathering enough information to write a thesis, I finally chose the clinic that I hoped would put an end to my nasal ordeal.

But going abroad alone for an operation? It was terrifying. I was afraid of the unknown: the language, the country, the flight, the operation itself. But once I arrived in Istanbul, my fears were allayed.

On the left, you can see the protruding bone beneath the eye and a problem with the tip of the nose. And on the right, a photo taken after the operation showing the corrected nose.

Affaf, the clinic’s medical coordinator, had organised everything for me: transport, accommodation, translator, operation, medication… I was taken care of from A to Z. An efficiency that would make the best wedding planners pale in comparison. After all, isn’t it a bit like a wedding with a new nose? I was in good hands, and for once I felt no stress.

A new nose and a new life (plus a few laughs)

The operation took place, and after a few days of observation, the moment I’d been waiting for arrived: the splint was removed. That’s when I discovered my nose. The nose I’d been waiting for for over 13 years! No more bumps, no more asymmetry, no more nightmares in front of the mirror. Just a nose that fits perfectly into my face, as if it had always been there without me realising.

For the first time in years, I felt light, free of a weight I’d carried around for too long. It was like being reborn.

I remember that magical moment: the first morning at the hotel where I had to go down for breakfast with my Frankenstein head, my splint still clearly visible on my nose and the bruises under my eyes. I was dreading the looks on other people’s faces.

In fact, it was a veritable court of miracles. In the hall and restaurant, rhinoplasty on the left, breast augmentation on the right, hair transplant in front of me, and a face-lift behind me. Not forgetting the woman who had just had liposuction on her buttocks and had to eat breakfast lying down, like Kate Winslet facing DiCaprio in Titanic.

I was almost tempted to ask the waiter if they had a special menu for “freshly operated patients”, as there were so many of us!

Thank you Affaf, and thank you Istanbul!

When I returned to France, my family were impressed by the results. So much so that my sister, my brother-in-law, my mother and two of my uncles also decided to travel to Turkey for various operations. What was initially a personal decision turned into a real family movement.

And I’ll never forget the help of Affaf, the medical coordinator, who was simply incredible from start to finish. She made this trip a more than positive human experience. Istanbul? A magnificent city, friendly people, talented surgeons… and Turkish Airlines, well, that wasn’t bad either!

On the other hand, at the hotel, for the traditional Turkish breakfast of tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and chorizo… I’m sorry, but that’s a big NO for me! I beg you, change it! Put in croissants and pains au chocolat.

Today, I’m offering my help for free …

My experience has opened my eyes to the potential of Istanbul, but also to the importance of choosing the right clinic and surgeon. I know what it’s like to be lost, to not know where to start and to have doubts. That’s why I decided to create this website to help those who, like me at the time, felt alone and helpless when faced with this choice.

I’m not a medical tourism agency and I’m not encouraging anyone to have plastic surgery or to travel to Turkey. I had a bad experience in France and a good one in Turkey, but others may have had the opposite, with a good experience in France and a bad one in Turkey. My aim is simply to share my experience, to provide information and, if necessary, to help refer people to clinics and hospitals.

Today, I’m doing everything I can to ensure that others can experience this adventure with peace of mind, by being well-informed and well-supported, while remaining vigilant. It’s a small gesture, but if it can help someone regain their self-confidence, then it’s worth it.

Here I am, three months later: you can see some faint scars under the nose, but the nose is perfectly symmetrical.

A human and professional adventure

My trip to Istanbul not only helped me to come to terms with myself, it also showed me the warmth and generosity of the people I met there. The welcome was incredible, the care impeccable, and I never felt alone on this adventure.

Today, I’m happy to be able, in my own way, to bring a little of that experience to others. Because beyond the operation, it’s a real journey of inner transformation. And if I have just one regret? Well, it’s that I didn’t do this sooner.
