Frequently Asked Questions

What do you charge?  How much do you charge for your services?

BestClinic does not charge any fees for patients. Our service is completely FREE. Our pre-diagnosis is also completely FREE. If you are happy with the price of the operation, you will pay for your treatment directly to the hospital or clinic.

Comment savoir combien coûte une opération ?

The best way to find out how much an operation will cost is to complete the FREE PRE-DIAGNOSIS form on each clinic page. In this way, and after analyzing your file, you will obtain a personalized price based on your constraints and objectives. Please note that these prices are indicative and, although accurate, do not necessarily reflect the cost to you. Cosmetic surgery, in particular, is very often tailored to individual needs to help achieve the desired result. For example, facial rejuvenation is a combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments. While one person may require a full facelift and some skin resurfacing treatments, another may only require a lower face lift, and perhaps some eye treatments. Prices can therefore be very different.

How and when do I pay for my treatment?

You pay for treatment at the hospital or clinic, in euros or local currency. Most places accept cash, as well as other payment options, including bank transfers, credit and debit cards and traveler’s cheques. If in doubt, simply ask the hospital or clinic before you leave.

Why not go straight to the hospital and bypass yourself completely?

As our service is 100% free, there is nothing to be gained by going directly to the hospital, but you miss out on the service we offer our customers.  Our customer care team can give you extra peace of mind and help answer any questions you may have, based on our experience of overseas patient referrals. Our partnerships are so valued by hospitals that our customers will go straight to the front of the queue, every time. What’s more, in some areas, our partners can offer free services such as spa treatments and massages.

Do you offer payment facilities?

The clinics we work with will offer you the option of paying in several installments.

Are there discounts for multiple transactions?

We are dependent on the prices charged by hospitals and clinics. Unfortunately, we cannot negotiate prices.  But rest assured, our intermediary will make sure you find the most appropriate establishment and you will only pay the right price.

Do the surgeons speak English?

Yes, the doctors and staff are used to treating international patients in English, as well as in many other languages. We specify the languages spoken by the clinic on each page. In addition, we would like to thank our partner traduction-pas-cher.com for their kind cooperation on the English translation of our website.

Can I speak directly with the doctor/surgeon?

Yes, we can arrange this for you, just fill in your patient medical profile form (we’ll send it to you) and follow the process. Once you have submitted your medical information and photos, you can discuss this further with the doctor.

Why are surgery and cosmetic treatments abroad cheaper?

Various factors come into play. For example, living costs are generally much lower – this includes doctors, nurses, anesthetists and other associated medical staff. Overheads are also cheaper, such as rent, utilities, laboratory equipment, insurance and administration costs. These ‘hidden’ expenses can make up a significant proportion of your medical bill, so any reduction in these costs will result in considerable savings for you.

Is the quality of care as good as in your home country?

Yes, if not better. There are world-class facilities with excellent reputations, many of which are well-known and recognized centers for international patients. Thanks to JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation, international facilities are now compared to the same standards as US medical facilities – so look out for the JCI marker. This way, you are assured of the highest quality standards. However, just because a facility isn’t JCI accredited doesn’t mean it doesn’t match the facilities you used in your home country. At BestClinic, we aim to give patients a true representation of the market in one place, so it wouldn’t be fair to filter out all non-JCI accredited facilities, but we only include the best of the best.

Are the surgeons qualified and experienced?

Yes, we only work with leading specialists and surgeons who are highly qualified and experienced in the fields of aesthetic, plastic, reconstructive, hair and reproductive surgery.

Is the technology up to date?

Yes, due to the large budgets of these facilities, world-class equipment and associated cutting-edge technologies are available. Most people are aware that medical tourism destinations have catered well for cosmetic and plastic surgery, but patients are now just as likely to travel for fertility treatments, stem cell therapies and the latest cancer treatments in specialist high-tech facilities.

What do hygiene standards, sterilization and safety procedures look like?

Again, with reference to JCI accreditation, all of these standards are covered and adhered to as part of this and for those who are not yet accredited, they must adhere to local standards and practices, which also meet high standards to ensure the best protection for all patients.

What happens if something goes wrong? Are there any guarantees?

Our doctors all offer guarantees on your treatment and although no medical treatment can ever be completely guaranteed due to the different ways in which our bodies react, the key to ensuring a successful outcome is to have your treatment carried out by qualified and experienced medical staff in facilities that meet strict health and safety requirements.  It is also imperative that you follow post-treatment guidelines and advice so as not to compromise the healing process. Many thousands of patients travel abroad for medical, surgical and cosmetic treatments, but in the rare event that something goes wrong, you should inform the hospital or clinic concerned immediately. We suggest that you take out additional low-cost medical complications insurance before you travel – and while this won’t prevent you from having problems, it will at least cover any extra accommodation or travel costs you may incur.

How long does a medical trip last?

It really depends on the operations. Some cosmetic procedures, like Botox or fillers, can be done in minutes, and there’s virtually no downtime, so you won’t have to stay. This is different for surgery.  Although many surgical treatments can be carried out on an outpatient basis, you will usually need to stay for a week or so to remove the stitches, although this can often be done by your local doctor when you return home. Other major surgical procedures may require you to stay longer, but the final decision rests with your surgeon.

Is it safe to travel alone for surgery?

Yes, but we recommend that you travel with someone who can support and help you. This will help you feel more at ease, especially if you’re in a new country for the first time. However, if this is not possible, all the hospital staff will give you all the care and attention you expect.

What are the steps involved in organizing a medical trip?

First of all, you need to define your request precisely and submit it to us. This way, we can understand what procedure you want and where you want to have it. Then continue to complete your medical profile (we’ll send it to you by e-mail), adding photos if necessary. After analyzing your file, we will recommend the best clinic at the best price. We have many partner hotels close to the hospitals that offer us very good discounts that cannot be found anywhere else on the Internet, but we understand if you prefer to find them yourself.

Do you also organize flights and accommodation?

We organize flights and accommodation. Traveling out of season is a great way to cut costs, both on flights and accommodation, and we can certainly help.

Do you need information or a medical history from my own doctor before I travel?

This is not always necessary, but if you have any health problems, these should be listed in our Medical Details section, which is sent to the hospital of your choice. If you are having surgery to correct a particular health problem, such as a hip or knee replacement, a medical history from your own doctor would be helpful.

Does the clinic or hospital offer a transport service from the hospital to my hotel? And from the hotel to the airport?

Many of our hospitals/clinics offer this and we will be sure to inform you of these services. It is important that patients can be fully looked after from the plane to the clinic and from the clinic to the plane, via the hotel.
