Precautions to take after the operation

It is advisable to keep your head elevated for 3 to 4 days after the operation, to avoid the formation of oedema. Bruising may appear on the tissues close to the nose, particularly around the eyes or above the upper lip.

A cold water compress may help to reduce the swelling. Nasal congestion is also perfectly normal, as is discharge. You should not blow your nose.

Post-operative check-ups and appointments will provide an opportunity to monitor the progress of your nose. The splint will be removed after 7 to 10 days. Your nose will take on its final shape after 6 months.
